Our front line did an excellent job stopping and taking the heat off of Effingham’s hits. It took Effingham back and it allowed us to put them on their heels. Effingham definitely had to work for their win tonight.”

Brandi Metcalf led the Lady Aces with six kills and one serving ace. Patricia Jeffries had four kills and two aces.Dylan Marshall had four kills and an ace. Carmen Deisher had three kills. Leah Bunting had one kill and one ace and Ashlynn Newkirk added one kill.

“There were many blocks last night but unfortunately they were not recorded,” Bunting said. “Those that I can recall that blocked well were Jeffries, Bunting, Marshall, Deisher and Newkirk.”

Effingham advances to the regional semifinal on Tuesday against second-seeded Charleston. Olney, which defeated Paris, 2-0, in Monday’s other match, will play No. 1 seed Mattoon in the other semi on Tuesday.
