FAIRFIELD, Ill. — Wabash County will be well represented at the SIJHSAA Class S state track meet May 10 in Salem.
Allendale qualified two individuals in five events and two relays out of the regional meet Monday in Fairfield. St. Mary’s advanced one individual in three events.
Jackson Marcotte led the way with four first-place finishes. In the field, he won the discus (107-feet 5-inches) and shot put (40-3). On the track he won the hurdles in 16.33 seconds and the 400 in 1:00.10.
Kaleigh Fisher finished second in the 400 (1:13.21).
Fisher joined in two state-bound relays, as both the 4x100 and 4x200 units took first place at the regional meet. Both relays consist of: Fisher, Brittany Bittner, Tristyn Wyatt and Ellie McIntire.
Their time in the 4x100 was 1:00.02, while the 4x200 was clocked at 2:09.95.
Other Yellow Jackets participating in the regional meet was Brock Lane and Brooklyn Sikes.
York, a St. Mary’s eighth-grader, is headed to the state meet in three events. She finished first in the 400 (1:12.28) and the hurdles (19.03) at regionals, while grabbing second in the 200 (30.53).
St. Mary’s also had two runners place in the top six, though they did not qualify for state. Paige Hocking finished sixth in the girls 400, while Draden Hoffman took sixth in the boys long jump.
Also participating for St. Mary’s was: Bri James, Andrew Tennis, Amelia Tennes, Gary Harness and Reese Noll.
Both Allendale and St. Mary’s will be back in Fairfield today (Tuesday) for the WEAA Conference meet.
