The Wabash Valley College softball team won three of four games on the road over the weekend. Somehow, that still wasn’t good enough.

Lake Land won all four of its games over the weekend to extend its lead over second-place WVC to two games. The Lakers are 25-1 in the GRAC, while WVC stands 23-3 after a split with Rend Lake on Saturday and a sweep of Southwestern on Sunday.


FT. BRANCH, Ind. - Gibson Southern defeated Mt. Carmel, 17-1, in a non-conference softball game on Friday.

The Lady Aces only run came on a solo home run over the center field fence by Kelsey McGill.

Cannon Keepes started for Mt. Carmel (0-7), and was relieved by Cheyenne Dardeen.

The game was shortened to five innings.

Mt. Carmel is off until Wednesday when the Lady Aces host Class 2A regional opponent Lawrenceville. The action at the Fourth St. ballpark will begin at 4 p.m.


Hamilton County scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to edge past Mt. Carmel, 4-2, in non-conference softball on Wednesday.


The Lady Warrior softball team is keeping the heat on GRAC frontrunner Lake Land. They defeated Southeastern Illinois twice on Tuesday at Paul Schnarre Field to remain one game back on the loss side in league play.

WVC is now 20-2 in GRAC play, and 26-6 overall. Lake Land is 15-1 in the league.


Olney Central pushed across one run in the bottom of the fifth to upend Wabash Valley, 5-4, in the first half of a GRAC doubleheader on Saturday. That loss was enough to knock the Lady Warriors into second place on the loss side in the league by the end of the weekend.
