FAIRFIELD, Ill. — Allendale’s Jackson Marcotte and St. Mary's Bailee Peacock and Morgan York were the biggest local winners in the WEAA Conference track meet held on Tuesday.
Marcotte, a seventh grader, won two events to lead the Yellowjackets to a third place finish in the boys meet. Peacock was a double winner along with her eighth grade teammate York as the Lady Rockets finished second in the girls meet.
Madeline Jones of St. Mary’s also claimed a win in the 1600 meter run in a time of 7:05.72, good for a 26-second victory.
Marcotte won the discus by over 25 feet, covering 109-feet 3-inches with his throw. He took the shot put with a distance of 42-feet-1 1/2 inches. Marcotte also took second in two events, the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.53 seconds and the 200 in 28.47.
New Hope won the boys meet. Jasper was second, followed by Allendale, Enfield and Geff - tied for fourth - and St. Mary’s.
Peacock, like Marcotte, recorded her wins in field events. She claimed the WEAA discus title with a heave of 59-feet-3 1/2 inches, then won the shot put with a mark of 28-feet-7 1/4 inches. York won the long jump with a best of 12-feet-9 1/2 inches and claimed her other win on the track, covering 400 meters in a league best time of 7:05.
New Hope won the girls meet as well, followed by St. Mary’s. Allendale was fourth.
