The Jr Aces soccer team traveled to Washington to face the #1 seeded, and unbeaten, Hatchets in their first game of the 2012 SIJHSC tournament & fell 2 - 0 to the home team on a wet, sloppy field. The Hatchets scored the first goal of the game 3 minutes in on a corner kick. They added a second goal in the 20th minute for the 2 - 0 halftime lead, which held for the entire game.

We came out soft, in the first 10 - 15 minutes especially, and were off our game for most of the 1st half which was enough for Washington to capitalize on. In the 2nd half we came out much stronger and created some good scoring chances but couldn't finish. This was a tough game and was the first time all season, including the first match with these Hatchets, that we didn't have a decided advantage in time of possession and shots on goal. However, the kids hung in there and gave themselves opportunities to change the outcome to our favor which was pleasing to see.

Even with the loss, we still have a chance to win the tournament as it is based on points. We travel back to Washington this Saturday to continue tournament play against our other group opponents, Jasper and Pike Central.
