PARK HILLS, Mo. — Wabash Valley hung on post a 90-87 win over host Mineral Area Saturday, finishing off a split of weekend games at the Cardinal Classic.

WVC (4-2) led 68-57 with 12 minutes left, but the Cardinals rallied to within one point, 88-87 with 18 seconds left.

Tyrone Sherman hit one of two free throws to increase the Warrior margin to two points at :16. Jaquan Lynch finished things off with a free throw with one second remaining.

WVC led at halftime, 48-37.

Lynch and Sherman both finished team-high with 18 points. Sam Thompson added 15 for the Warriors, who play at Danville Area on Tuesday before returning to Spencer Sports Center for the Great Rivers Athletic Conference opener against Southwestern Illinois.

Friday night, Wabash Valley fell behind early against Three Rivers, Mo. and could not erase the deficit in a 75-60 loss to the Raiders.

Three-point shooting kept WVC in the game through the first half. But, the Warriors fell behind by as much as 18 points in the second half.

Lynch led the way with 14 points, followed by Wesley Afolayan with 12.

WVC hit six shots from beyond the arc line, while holding Three Rivers to one.
