INA — Vincennes University pulled away late to a 76-55 victory over Wabash Valley College on Thursday, eliminating the Warriors from the NJCAA Region 24 tournament.

The Trailblazers, ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA poll, will meet Southwestern in the championship game tonight (Friday) at 7 p.m., with a berth in the national tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. on the line.

VU is 30-2 on the season. Wabash had its’ season come to an end with a final record of 18-14, though the Warriors finished strong with 10 wins in their last 14 games. Both teams had split games during the regular season.

The inside game of WVC struggled against the Trailblazers. Phillip Jackson was held without a field goal on the day, and Chris Griffin was only 2-of-7 from the field. “They killed us in the paint and in rebounding,” said WVC coach Dan Sparks. Vincennes controlled the glass by a final count of 41-26.

Tyrone Sherman led WVC with 19 points. Rontray Chavis added 12.
