FAIRFIELD, Ill. — The St. Mary’s Lady Rockets eighth-grade basketball team remained undefeated with a win at Jasper School on Thursday. The seventh-grade team won as well to earn a sweep on the night.

Morgan York scored 32 points to lead the eighth-grade Lady Rockets to a 48-28 victory. St. Mary’s (2-0) led 26-13 at halftime and never looked back.

Carolyn Harness added 10 points for the winners, while Paige Hocking chipped in four points and Rebecca Kieffer two for Mark Zimmerman’s team.

Leading the scoring for Jasper School was Thompson and Newman, with 12 points apiece.

The seventh-grade Lady Rockets evened their record at 1-1 with a 28-4 win. Chloe Britton led the way with 10 points, followed by Allyson Armstrong with eight points.

Madison McIntire added four points, as Meredith Jones, Megan Haase and Megan Hoeszle each scored two points.

Jasper was led by Scarbrough with three points.

St. Mary’s opens the home season on Tuesday against New Hope. The seventh-grade game will begin at 6 p.m.

NOTES: The Lady Rockets will play an exhibition against the boy’s team on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the “Hoops for Hope” pink-out game at St. Mary’s. Proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
