Tickets for Monday’s Big 8 Conference girls showdown basketball game between Mt. Carmel and Princeton were sold out within minutes Friday morning.

Many more would-be spectators were willing to sign on to a waiting list, just in case tickets are returned from Princeton or Mt. Carmel students do not claim tickets by later in the day. Mt. Carmel athletic officials say that appears highly unlikely.

The interest in the rescheduled conference meeting between these two rivals has intensified since the Dec. 28 championship game of the Toyota Teamwork Classic, when Princeton defeated Mt. Carmel, 84-82.

It is the first time in Lady Aces history that advance tickets have been sold for a regular-season game.

Fans did not seem fazed by Mt. Carmel’s upset loss to Mt. Vernon, Ind., on Thursday night. The loss dropped the Aces to third place in the Big 8 standings, behind undefeated Princeton and Washington.
