NJCAA Region 24 basketball coaches will get together on Sunday to set the pairings for the upcoming tournament, which begins with men’s play-in games on Monday night.

On the men’s side, there are 11 teams to be seeded - GRAC members except champion Rend Lake (which is Division II), along with Vincennes, Shawnee, and Lewis & Clark. Vincennes, ranked 8th in the latest NJCAA poll, is expected to be named the top seed, followed by Southwestern.

WVC (17-13), which defeated Lincoln Trail 84-79 in the regular-season finale on Saturday night, is expected to nab at least the fifth seed, which would keep the Warriors out of a play-in round game. The bottom six seeds play games at three campus sites on Monday, with the survivors joining the top five seeds in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday at Rend Lake.

The women’s tourney is structured differently, with only the eight GRAC teams (minus Rend Lake) playing in the tourney. WVC Lady Warrior coach Zach Loll has his club projected as a No. 3 seed, which would probably pair them against Olney Central in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, also at Rend Lake.

The Lady Warriors (17-10) defeated Lincoln Trail on Saturday night. 77-48, snapping a three-game losing streak in the process.

At Rend Lake, the women’s quarterfinals are on Tuesday, followed by the men’s round of eight on Wednesday. Women’s semifinals are on Thursday, the men play on Friday, then both championship games are slated for Saturday. The winners receive berths into the NJCAA Division I national tournament.
