ALLENDALE, Ill. — Jackson Marcotte has put up some impressive numbers already in this basketball season. But, the Allendale eighth-grader outdid himself Thursday night.

The 6-foot-3 Marcotte scored 57 points and hauled down 34 rebounds to set records in both categories as the Yellow Jackets defeated West Salem, 67-40.

Marcotte scored all 12 of Allendale’s first quarter points, and by halftime had accounted for all but four of the Jackets’ 29 points as the hosts led, 29-13, at halftime.

On the night, Marcotte hit 26 field goals, all from two-point range, while hitting 5-of-8 at the free throw line.

Brooklyn Sikes (6 points) and Colton Etzkorn (4) rounded out the scoring.

West Salem was led by Martin Schmittler with 20 points.

In the seventh-grade game, Allendale lost, 39-4. The Yellow Jackets hit only one shot from the field, by Zach Hurt in the third quarter. They also got two free throws in the second period from McKenzie Smith.

Jordon Fritchley led West Salem with eight points.

Dawson Brown scored 26 points to lead Mt. Carmel to a 60-45 win over Princeton Thursday in eighth-grade play at MCMS.

The Junior Aces trailed at halftime, 26-15, before completely turning the game around in the third frame by outscoring the visiting Tigers, 28-11.

Austin Rager also finished in double figures for Matt Lies’ club, with 13 points. Albin led Princeton with 25 points.

Princeton won the seventh-grade game by a 32-26 count. The Tigers were held scoreless in the second quarter and trailed 12-11 at halftime, but outscored the Aces 10-7 in the third period to go back into the lead.
