Mt. Carmel has landed two players on the All-Big 8 Conference boys basketball team.
Sophomore Levi Laws and junior Reece Metcalf were both named to the 10-member team announced this week by league officials.

Voting was conducted by league coaches. Despite a tie for last in the league standings, the Aces were one of only three teams to place more than one player on the squad.
Metcalf was the leading scorer on the Aces team, while Laws was viewed by many as perhaps the league’s best all-around threat.

Mt. Carmel improved its win total by five games this past season, even against one of the toughest schedules in school history. The Aces topped the 14-15 season off by winning their first Class 2A Regional championship since 2008.

League champion Vincennes Lincoln put two players on the team, Avery Mickens and Josh Sprinkle. Runner up Mt. Vernon also landed two players, Brian Koch and Bryce Newman.

Princeton, which finished tied with Mt. Carmel at 1-5 in league play, placed Will Niederhaus on the squad, while Washington landed Cullen Arnold.

Jasper’s Mark Giesler and Boonville’s Mark Hendrickson also made the all-star team.
