CARTERVILLE, Ill. — Wabash Valley used its inside advantage to pull away to a 77-71 Great Rivers Athletic Conference victory  over John A. Logan Saturday.

The Lady Warriors also turned Tyshee Towner loose, which provided the cushion in the road win.

Both Desiree Rhodes and Andriana Moore recorded double-doubles for WVC (11-3, 4-1 in GRAC). Moore had 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Rhodes added 10 points and a game-high 13 boards.

Towner led all scorers with 20 points, 14 of those coming in the second half.

Logan (4-7, 1-3) led 41-39 at halftime, but the Lady Warriors kept it close until Rhodes’ basket with 6:15 remaining opened up a 65-56 lead.

Rashawnda Shamell also had a big second half for Wabash Valley, scoring seven of her 10 points over the final 20 minutes.

WVC hit six 3-point field goals, two each from Shamell and Ellie Fruit. Logan hit four from beyond the arc line.

Briya Wilborn led the Lady Volunteers with 18 points.

NOTES: WVC remained in third in GRAC race, behind Kaskaskia (3-0), which defeated Lewis & Clark, 107-59, in non-conference play, and Lake Land (2-0), which won at winless Southeastern, 70-33... WVC hosts Rend Lake (6-5, 2-2) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
