SEDALIA, Mo. — For the second time in one week, the Wabash Valley College Lady Warriors had to face State Fair, Mo., a team ranked 24th in the pre-season NJCAA women’s basketball poll.
And for the second time, this time on the road, the Lady Warriors came close to springing an upset, falling 74-64 Friday night.
The Lady Roadrunners led at halftime, 40-30 and maintained the advantage to the end.
Tyshee Towner led WVC with 17 points. Desiree Rhodes finished with 12 points, while sophomore Andrianna Moore chipped in 11 points.
Saturday, Moore led Wabash Valley with 25 points in an 87-81 loss to Three Rivers, Mo.
Demetria Snaden wound up with 17 points, followed by Towner with 13 and Ellie Fruit with 11 points.
Wabash Valley (3-3) opens Great Rivers Athletic Conference play Thursday at home against Southwestern Illinois. The tipoff at Spencer Sports Center is at 5:30 p.m., preceding the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
The WVC Foundation Chili Supper will be held Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Red Cafe on campus.
