The Junior Aces boys basketball team improved to 5-0 with a 49-27 win over South Knox at the WVC Shootout on Thursday night at Spencer Sports Center.
After trailing 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, MCMS outscored the Spartans 10-0 in the second quarter to take control. By the end of the third period, the Aces lead was up to 39-20.
Justin Carpenter led the Aces with 11 points, followed closely by Daxton Peach with 10. Ryan Webb added eight points, and Elijah Hadra six. Also scoring for the Aces were: Trevor Kennard, Trenton VanMatre, and Jacob Durham all with four points, and Sampson Margelin finished with two.
Sam Downen led South Knox with eight points.
MCMS won the seventh grade game as well, 51-27. Austin Rager paced the Junior Aces with 16 points, with Blake Golden also finishing in double figures, with 11. Zach Whitten totaled seven, while Evan Kieffer and Brayden Stipp each added six. Dawson Brown had four, and Cameron Hughes one.
The Junior Aces have two home games scheduled for this week. Tonight (Monday), they host Red Hill, starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Cairo visits MCMS, with the first game starting at 5 p.m.
