CLEARWATER, Fla. — Brandon Winschief was named the starting pitcher for Oakland City University in its game today (Tuesday) against Findlay College in Clearwater, Florida.

Winschief, a former Mt. Carmel and Wabash Valley College standout, is off to a 1-0 start for the Mighty Oaks. The 6-foot-3 right hander threw six scoreless innings in an 11-2 win over Bethel College on Feb. 23. He allowed just three hits and walked three, while striking out four.

OCU (4-4) won its Florida opener on Monday, defeating Cedarville, Ohio, 10-9, for the Oaks third straight win.

The win was Winschief’s first at OCU. He went 0-3 last spring with an ERA of 6.59.
