Brandon Winschief threw one scoreless inning of relief in his final Florida appearance for Oakland City University.

The former Golden Aces and Wabash Valley College hurler struck out the side while walking two batters in the fifth inning of OCU’s 5-1 loss to Walsh in Lakeland on March 8.

Three days earlier, Winschief, and for that matter the entire Mighty Oaks staff, had struggled against Findlay in a game in Clearwater. The 6-foot-3 righthander from Allendale was the starter, and lasted 2.1 innings. He allowed six earned runs while striking out two batters and was tagged with the loss. Things never got better for OCU in a 24-12 loss.

Winschief, now 1-1 on the year, had defeated Bethel on Feb. 23, going six shutout innings in an 11-2 win.
