Justin Garcia hit one home run and had five runs batted in to lead Wabash Valley to an 18-11 win over Vincennes on Tuesday at the WVC field.

Edgar Figueroa added four RBI’s as WVC defeated their non-conference rivals for the third straight time this season, with one single game remaining on April 23 at VU.

Wabash Valley (28-9) led 8-1 after three innings, but the Trailblazers tried to chip away, scoring four runs against Warrior starter Spencer Sapp in the fourth inning. The hosts then matched that total, and did it again in the fifth after Vincennes (20-16), a juco Division II team in baseball, put up three in the fifth.

Vincennes committed six errors in the game.

Sapp was relieved in the fifth by Erik Swanson. Patrick McGuff (2-0) then worked the final four innings to get the win. Nick Nauracy (1-5) took the loss for the Blazers.

Garcia was 3-for-4 on the day. Diaz, Manuel DeJesus, Cole Gleason and Ray Perez added two hits apiece for Rob Fournier’s Warriors. The Warriors were out hit by Vincennes, 17-14.

WVC opens a three-game series against Shawnee on Friday. The opener is in Mt. Carmel at 1:30 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
