Gibson Southern pitching held Mt. Carmel to only two hits on Tuesday in the Aces 4-1 season-opening loss at Dee White Field.

The Aces only run of the day came in the second after Gibson Southern had taken a 2-0 lead in the top half of the inning. Alex Obermeyer singled home Jared Piper to cut the deficit in half.

But, the Titans scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings, though they only had four hits on the day.

Cole Berry took the loss for the Aces, who got relief help from first-year senior Christian Seaton, and Ian Hipsher.

Mt. Carmel hosts Jasper on Wednesday in the Aces first Big 8 Conference game of the year. Junior Reece Metcalf, the top returning pitcher for the Aces, will get the start in the 4:30 p.m. game.
