Smith, Rigg honored for service

Kevin Smith and Jerry Rigg each were honored for more than 20 years in the coaching ranks at Mt. Carmel High School during a pre-season meeting of all coaches on Tuesday night at Hogg Heaven.

Smith and Rigg are both football assistant coaches at the Hilltop, assisting with a program they once starred in as student athletes at MCHS. They were presented with plaques by Athletic Director Doug Spear. Smith was on hand to receive his award. Rigg was out of town.

Zach Loll takes the reigns at WVC

He was being groomed as Paul Schnarre’s replacement as Athletic Director ever since his hire at Wabash Valley College five years ago. So, he’s had plenty of time to learn the operation from Schnarre, who in over 30 years at the helm has turned WVC into a national power in every sport it fields.

No IHSA class changes for Aces teams

The good news and the bad news from the IHSA are the same: there will be no classification changes for Aces athletic teams in the 2013-14 school year.
