Soccer Aces fall

North Knox defeated Mt. Carmel, 2-0, in non-conference soccer action Monday on the WVC soccer field.

After a scoreless first half, the Warriors scored their first goal in the 50th minute, then scored again in the final three minutes of the game to clinch the win.

“Despite the loss, we played well as a team tonight and because of that we almost pulled out the win against a team that has had a successful season to date,” said Aces coach Ed Berberich of the nine-win Warriors.

No letdown for the Hatchets

WASHINGTON, Ind. — The Washington soccer team was just coming off the championship in the prestigious Hoosier Cup tournament over the weekend.

If Mt. Carmel came into Monday’s Big 8 Conference game hoping the Hatchets would suffer an emotional letdown following the tourney, the Aces didn’t get the help they were wanting.

Aces fall to Mt. Vernon 7-2

MT. VERNON, Ind. - The scoreboard did not tell the whole story on Tuesday night in Mt. Vernon.  Because there was more to the host Wildcats’ 7-2 Big 8 Conference soccer win over Mt. Carmel than indicated.

Soccer Aces learning quickly

EFFINGHAM, Ill. - They say with knowledge comes power. New Golden Aces soccer coach Ed Berberich hopes that the knowledge gained about his team in the season-opening Effingham tournament will produce more powerful results later in the season.

Though the Aces finished with an 0-3 record in the tourney, Berberich learned a lot about this young team. “While it was disappointing not to come up with a win on the day, we did came away with what I feel was more important, which was some knowledge of the team we have and how it fits together,” Berberich said.
