Shea Simpson signs with Frontier for CC

Shea Simpson is ready to help start something new at Frontier Community College. The Mt. Carmel senior Thursday signed an athletic scholarship to be part of the first Bobcat cross country team this fall.
Yet that was only part of what drew her to the Fairfield school.

“I wanted to go into the medical field (phlebotomy),” said Simpson, who added that “walking around the campus” sparked her interest in the school.

The same can be said for Frontier coach Amelia Lingafelter. Simpson’s cross country times were just one aspect of the school’s interest.

“She had good times, and was interested in Frontier. She seemed like she had her stuff together,” said Lingafelter. “That’s what we’re looking for. We focus on times but that’s not our main focus. We want to find someone who is responsible and hard working.
