Lady Aces send seniors out winners

It was the home opener and Senior Day all wrapped up into one . Mt. Carmel hosted its only home cross country meet of the season on Tuesday at Lake Froman.

The Lady Aces honored two seniors, Tyra Buss and Peyton Farmer, before the race, then the rest of the team joined forces to send them out winners with a triangular victory. Mt. Carmel finished with 30 points to Lawrenceville’s 44 and Princeton’s 46.

Heat takes toll in CC opener

FAIRFIELD — The heat proved as tough as the competition in Monday’s season-opening cross country invitational here.

The 90-degree weather caused two Lady Aces runners to drop out of the race. “Our biggest struggle for this meet was that it was our first time running in this high of temperatures and we were not acclimated to the heat,” said coach Steve Perry.

CC team runs in opener tonight

When Steve Parry takes his Mt. Carmel boys and girls cross country teams to Fairfield for a season-opening invitational today, he’ll be taking one of the largest Lady Aces teams he’s assembled in seven years at the helm. However, his Aces boys team will be one of the youngest he’s ever had.

5K winner will run for Aces this fall

Mt. Carmel cross country coach Steve Perry did not expect to be recruiting when he ran in the Guardian Center Blue Ribbon 5K on Saturday morning.

After finishing fourth in the 3.1-mile event,  Perry went in search of the winner, Andrew Carwile, 14. The eighth grader at MCMS did not disappoint him, indicating that he does intend to run for the Golden Aces when he gets to the Hilltop this fall.

Aces finish season at sectoonal meet

Effingham – The Mt. Carmel High School cross country teams wrapped up their season here on Saturday in the IHSA Class 1A sectional meet. No one advanced on the state meet, which will be held this weekend in Peoria.
