Boys finish 4th at Flora

FLORA, Ill. - The Mt. Carmel boys track team finished fourth at the Flora Invitational on Thursday.

Olney won the eight-team meet with 162 points. Fairfield was second with 98 points, followed by Cumberland with 57. The Aces were next with 46 points, just ahead of the host Wolves and their total of 36 points. Oblong took sixth with 31 points, rounded out by Woodlawn (8 points), and Patoka, which was held scoreless.

The Aces brought home two relay and two individual championships. The 4x800 relay of Levi Laws, Caleb Kline, Alex Gaston and Nathan Baleda won in a time of 9:32. The 4x100 unit of Bryce Maguire, Shaun Flickenger, Devin Thombleson and Cameron Peach won in 46.97 seconds.

Peach proved the fastest on the track with his win in the 100 dash in a time of 12.09 seconds. Bryce Thompson also claimed the distance title on the day as well by winning the 3200 in a time of 11:14.

The other two relays took second. The 4x200 squad of Flickenger, Tony Miller, Joey Nelson and Hayden Robinson were timed at 1:42.87. The 4x400 relay of Laws, Kline, Justin Spear and Fabian Nordell recorded a time of 4:01.

Darren Peach’s squad returns to Riverview Stadium on Tuesday, were they will join the Lady Aces in hosting two other teams beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Lady Aces win Flora Invitational

FLORA, Ill. — Mt. Carmel won the championship of the Flora girls invitational track meet on Thursday.
The Lady Aces scored 184 points to carry the event, followed by the host Wolfgals with 144. Fairfield took third with 94, followed by Patoka (44) and Oblong (10). MCHS won eight individual events and two relays.

Shorthanded Lady Aces finish 2nd

OLNEY, Ill. - Without Elise Thomason, Jenny Sutton and Reagan Keepes, all out with illness of doctor’s appointments, the Lady Aces track team still managed a second-place finish at the Olney Invitational on Tuesday.
“I am so proud of the way the girls stepped up today,” said Lady Aces coach Kelly Buss. “We had to move some girls around to different events, because we were running without a couple of key runners.”

Junior Aces win lone home meet of the season

The MCMS boys and girls won the championship of a junior high invitational track meet involving all three county teams plus Parkview on Tuesday at Riverview Stadium.

The Junior Aces won the boys meet with 89 points. Parkview was second with 45 points followed by Allendale and St. Mary’s, both tied with 14 points. In the girls meet, MCMS won with 91 points. The Lady Rockets of St. Mary’s were runners-up with 36 points. Parkview took third with 29 and Allendale totalled 11 points.

Tracksters win 8 events

HARRISBURG, Ill. - The Lady Aces track team won eight events while winning a five-team meet here on Thursday.
Mt. Carmel, a last-minute addition to the field, scored 147 points. Christopher took second with 118 points, followed by Carterville (111), Anna-Jonesboro (78) and Harrisburg (64).
