Lady Aces finish 3rd in Big 8 meet

PRINCETON, Ind. - Aided by one conference and one school record performance, the Lady Aces track team finished third in the Big Conference meet on Tuesday.
Jasper won the league championship with 142 points, 16 points better than runnerup Mt. Vernon. Mt. Carmel totaled 91 points, followed by fourth-place Princeton with 57 points. Washington took fifth (37), Vincennes sixth (29) and Boonville seventh (14 points).

Jr. Aces win NEC track championship

FLORA, Ill. — The Mt. Carmel Junior Aces boys track team captured the championship at the Jr. NEC meet on Monday in Flora. Meanwhile, the Junior Lady Aces placed third in the girls meet.

MCMS brought home six individual championships between both teams. Daxton Peach led the way finishing first in the high jump and long jump. Grady Wilkinson won the 1600 meter run and Zach Whittler took the crown in the seventh grade 100 meter dash. The girls got victories from Eryn Gould in the shot put and Makayla Tomblinson in the 1600 run.

Lady Aces take 5th at Newton

NEWTON, Ill. — The Lady Aces track team, with depleted ranks, managed a fifth place finish in the Newton Invitational on Monday.

“Unfortunately we had to run without half our team, as we had girls out due to injuries and illness,” said coach Kelly Buss. “We look to have most girls back in time for the (Big 8 Conference) meet next Tuesday.”

St. Mary's wins 7th grade crown at meet

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. — With Morgan York’s three individual wins leading the way, the St. Mary’s seventh-grade girls track team won a four-team meet on Monday at Parkview.

The Lady Rockets finished with 55 points, edging past Parkview’s 51.5 points. Allendale finished third with 44 points followed by Palestine with 37.5 points.

Hello for boys, goodbye for girls

On the same night the Mt. Carmel boys track team opened the home season, it was Senior Day for the Lady Aces against Lawrence County rivals. Both the locals won their respective meets.
