Taking aim at a state championship

NORMAL - The Golden Aces boys golf team already has one IHSA state championship under its belt, the 2010 Class 1A title.  This weekend, the Aces have a shot at capturing a second, in the larger Class 2A division. Mount Carmel is one of 12 teams vying for the state championship begin-ning on Friday at the Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University in Normal.

Christian Seaton wins one for Ed

Two years ago, when Christian Seaton won his first Regional golf championship as a sophomore, there was friend and mentor Ed Richardson taking it all in, revel-ing in the play of the underclassman who two weeks later would help lead his team to the Illinois state championship.

On Monday, as Seaton wrapped up his second regional title in three years, this time in the larger Class 2A division, Ed Richardson was taking it all in again—in memory and spirit.

Aces boys finish 2nd at Class 2A Regional

The Mount Carmel boys golf team lives to play another day. Playing in a constant drizzle on their home course, the Golden Aces managed a second-place finish in the IHSA Class 2A Regional tournament on Monday.

Alices strike, then lightning

The Vincennes Lincoln Alices did more damage than the lightning on Tuesday. Vincennes scored the final 6 goals of the Big 8 Conference match ended early because of lightning, to defeat the Golden Aces, 7-1.

Lady Aces by 18 shots at Carmi

CARMI - The Lady Aces golf team played on the road for the final time duing the regular-season on Monday, defeating Carmi by 18 shots on the Bulldogs home course. Mount Carmel had a team score of 177, to Carmi's 195.
