Kieffer wins tour event

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mt. Carmel’s Emma Kieffer held off a strong final-round charge by Claire Carlin to claim a 2-shot victory Sunday in the Golf Junior Tour 15-19 year old girls division at Champion Trace golf course in Lexington, Ky.

Kieffer’s opening-round 84 had her one shot behind Madison Saladin and she followed with a 9-over-par nine holes in Sunday’s brutal conditions in the weather-shortened event. Saladin’s rough start took her out of contention while Carlin played her first six holes in just 1-over-par to vie for the win.

When Kieffer made triple bogey on her seventh hole, the door was open for the rest of the field, but she managed a par-bogey finish while Carlin bogeyed two of her final three holes.
